“The motherboard is not gen 4x, the memory is just 3200 and the cpu is last years model. How can I substitute all of these components with better ones? There did not appear to be a configurator.”

You cannot change the specs of the pc when buying through Best Buy, if you want a custom pre-built you have to go to the builders website and buy direct from them. The generally equipped motherboard does have a single Gen. 4 M.2 slot. You can upgrade the ram to whatever speed you want as long as it is DDR4. This motherboard only works with gen 10 & 11 Intel CPU's, Gen 12 Intel is a different socket.
