“Does the lid come off completely or does it just hinge?”

• The lid is just a hinge, but it doesn't retract all the way back. Not a very good design in my opinion. It should open more to allow filling with no spillage.

• The lid comes off completely and so does the center, a way to take out the tea strainer without taking off the lid.

• The lid only hinges but no part of operation or cleaning requires the removal of the lid.

• Its a hinge, and it only opens up a few inches, not a 90 degree angle.
