• YES ABOUT 1/2 INCH ON THE HINGE SIDE WHICH IS THE LEFT SIDE WHEN FACING THE UNIT.

• If I understand the question correctly the answer is no. If you have a tight fit the door will not impede. The door cannot be behind the cabinet spacer because this microwave door has to be manually open. The handle slot is on the side not the bottom.
