When I dont use it, I unplug it. Its in my semi which gets very hot and very cold. It works fine everytime I plug it back up. I don't put it back in the box or anything. I leave it where its at. I would box it up if I was storing it outside just to keep it clean and bug free to extend the life of the fridge
