I have only had this freezer a short time but the way it looks for frost inside , it may only be once a year for self defrost, depending on conditions where Freezer is Placed and How often you open it. . To defrost just remove items from freezer and place in some coolers temporarily, then unplug freezer and let defrost, and then drain any water from Freezer through the drain plug. Wipe Dry and plug back in. wait about an hour and replace items back in Fridge.

This freezer has to be manually defrosted. 
Defrost as needed, it depends on how much frost build-up it has.
