yes there is, but this machine will stop after only about 2 to 3 minutes of shredding....so if you have any kind of volume at all, this is not the machine for you
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is overheating protection. My experience (all of these immediately after opening the box) (I shred about 1000 plus A-4 sheets in a span of about 8 hrs with 20-30 mts break in between) - Paid 40 bucks incl of tax - About 2 ft high, little more than 1 ft wide, and little less than 1\2 a ft depth. Very light. - Easy to setup, just lift the motor head and place it on the plastic bin and plug into electrical outlet. That simple - On \ Off \Reverse button. Paper feeds automatically if you place it on the shredder. Auto stops on overheating. Green light for ready to go, Red light on overheating. Simple. The buttons are poorly made, so make sure to handle with real care, will definitely break if one is not gentle in handling it every time. - Should be gentle in handling the bin, because its not very sturdy. If bin for some reason goes out of original shape, it may be very difficult to place the motor head properly. This will not be a problem if your load is such that you empty the bin like once in 2-3 days. - The shredder slot is made pretty much exactly for the shorter side of A-4 printer paper. Anything even slightly bigger than that wouldn't fit.. There is nice groove handle to lift the motor head (recognized it after a few runs, it is not that obvious) - Bin takes in approximately 40--45 sheets of shredded paper without offering resistance to the incoming shredded paper. So suggest not to over push the shredded paper quantity in the bin. But I pushed it until 70 sheets when I stress tested it. - Takes 6 - 10 seconds for 1 to 6 sheet shredding. Not much of noise difference for number of sheets shredded at a time. - Noise level is pretty much there. To the point if you are watching TV at normal levels, it will make TV volume inaudible, but definitely way less than a food processor. Can't expect better than that - It pretty much struggles at 6 sheets. I would not use it for more than 3 sheets at a time. I read that all shredders are pretty much the same at any level. Standard recommendation is to use half the capacity of the shredder. So for the sake of longevity of the sharpness of the teeth of shredder, would suggest go with no more than 3 sheets at a time. - When I began for the first 10 runs I could do a minimum of 30 - 40 sheets at a time with about 20 -30 mts break in between. My suggestion, about 30 sheets at at a time with 3 sheets per run with 25-30 mts. break for the next 30 sheets and son on, will keep its longevity good. But after close to 4 hours, it could handle only about 20-25 sheets before overheating. But I wouldn't expect better, for a small baby like this. In one batch for test purpose, I ran 70 sheets @ 3 sheets\run, it devoured it in 2 minutes before over-heating. But I would not push it that far. - Overall I am happy. I bought this for daily mail\receipts shredding at home. I still tested it for continuous run with heavy load (w.r.t home\small business), since I had almost close to 1000-1200 sheets of printed paper with sensitive info. I would happily recommend it even for fairly heavy work. I checked out that it cost $1 per pound of shredding and they don't do it in front of you. You have hand over the docs trusting the company. It's insane to hand over any thing with ssn, dl, financial statements etc for shredding without one's presence. I already got back close to 10 to 12 dollars of my first day of shredding :)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. When the unit overheats it has to be turned off for approximately 15 minutes.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yeah. There's a red light that turns on when it overheats and stops working until it cools off. I've never run into it before, and I don't think most personal users will have an issue with it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This unit will automatically shut off if overheating. If that occurs turn the shredder off for aprox 30 minutes to allow the unit to cool off before resuming.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes overheated mine and it shut down and the power lite started to flash, came back in 30 min and working fine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It has a little warning light. And it starts to flicker as it gets hotter and hotter. I haven't tested it yet to see i if I can get it to overheat.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have not had any problem with over heating...I have been shredding only normal sheet paper. No problems.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.yes there is. it shuts down when it gets too hot
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. There is a red light on the top, next to the "ready" light, which will turn on if the shredder is overheating. The shredder will cease operation until it has cooled down if this happens. (The light stays on to tell you what happened.) However, unless you're running the shredder continuously for a long time, there's not really much danger of overheating.
