No, the cable is not directional. Make sure you have the correct input selected on the tv, and that the Apple TV is powered on.

Please try again later.I don't believe any HDMI cables are directional in the sense that signals only travel in one direction however there may be HDMI cables with different connectors on each end for special uses but I don't know. The cable I bought has normal HDMI connectors on each end and is not sensitive to how it is plugged in.
