Can the box lay down flat for transporting? null

Yes. We qualified that before purchasing it. Instructions said leave standing full 2 hours before plugging in to allow all fluids to return to proper spaces HOWEVER we chose a full 24 hours just to be safe because we read that on a "tips" sight. Plugged in, waited required 30 minutes, set digitals for FREEZER. All went, and still going well.

Make sure you stand the unit for at least 2 hours before plugging in.

I don't know for sure. Most likely no.
