I just bought this unit (March 2025) and I had the same problem. Seems like a defect.

Garage Ready Convertible Upright Freezer, when set to refrigerator mode at 35 degrees, is fluctuating between 40 and 43 degrees. This temperature range is indeed higher than the recommended safe zone for perishable foods, which should be kept at or below 40 degrees Fahrenheit to prevent bacterial growth. To troubleshoot this issue, first check the door seal to ensure it is sealing properly, as a faulty seal can cause temperature fluctuations. Avoid overloading the refrigerator, as this can impede air circulation and affect cooling efficiency. Verify that the temperature setting is correctly set to 35 degrees, as sometimes the display might show the set temperature, but the actual internal temperature might differ. Ensure there is adequate space around the unit for proper ventilation, as blocked vents can affect cooling performance. Additionally, make sure the condenser coils are clean, as dust and debris on the coils can reduce cooling efficiency. If these steps don't resolve the issue, there might be a defect with the unit, and it would be best to contact Insignia customer support or Best Buy for further assistance. Keith | Insignia Support
