Have the same issue, our Insigna new fridge is making many diffrent sounds like "animals screaming". CAN the manufacturer explain why???

Hi, We also have a problematic sound with our fridge. Like the other commentator it sounds exactly like animals moaning or groaning. We "joke" that our fridge is possessed. It is a very unpleasant sound, not faint, and not one we could live with. We just bought this fridge new.. but it also has a dent in it.. and we are trying to figure out if the particular fridge is defective or if the brand line has something wrong with it. We were told by Best Buy to contact Insignia, but I feel this is a run around.. we bought from Best Buy, they should honour our purchase and be able to respond to the product. We are otherwise happy with the fridge and it was in our price range - but we don't want to have another Insignia delivered only to find out it has the same problem.

Haha! At least I can now laugh at my new refrigerator. Mine sounds like a newborn calf calling for its momma. I actually went outside earlier today expecting to see a cow in front of my house that had escaped from a nearby field. I was surprised to discover the source of the sound was my refrigerator. I just got it today, and I hope the sound is temporary. Gives a new meaning to the question "Got milk?"! ;)

I don’t know the actual reason why the noise is there on our new INSIGNA fridge we also just purchased. It could be the compressor or fan ? Not sure but would be good to know if it will always have to make this noise. We were imagining all kinds of crazy scenarios! Kind of freaky but a good explanation and possible adjustment if needed would be very helpful:) 
So I type slow and while I wrote this, Best Buy is going to return my appliance since it is brand new and it is not yet known why the sounds is there. It is not a faint sound but it is consistent when motor kicks in. Thank you Best Buy! Our service on the selection, purchase, and delivery was excellent!

We picked up this Fridge at a Best Buy Outlet. There were 3 others of the same brand make model that were also there. This should have been a tip off. Mine also makes wounded animal in the night noises. At first it make me laugh because it sounds like an upset Star Wars character, but because it does contain a level of discomfort to it’s call, it turns out to be one of those noises, like a crying baby or a whimpering pup, that you biologically cannot ignore. So since I will never get used to this noise, I will go through the hassle of taking back this fridge.

The "moaning" sound you mention appears to be VERY common as a LOT of people are mentioning the exact same thing! I can see your question was asked about 2.5 years ago. We have the same problem with the moaning, and we just bought our fridge in June 2021. Clearly the manufacturer has not tried to resolve the issue!!

This is the difference of the 200 dollars you save buying this brand mine is loud too but the pop is ice cold and the freezer works great i was worried when it ran load out of the box but i see similar comments so i know nothing is wrong with mine you get what you pay for as long as it performs like the name brands i can live with it and i might add i have a insignia chest freezer that ran noisy out of the box that was a year ago but still performs like the brand names so no complaints here

Maybe too late but we found our condenser fan had no screws holding it in. It was missing all three. Took it apart and haven't heard a peep out of it! Had to put my ear next to it to check it was running! It's behind the freezer doors, remove the back to find it.

I have a similar issue with my brand new insignia fridge, makes me laugh reading all the comparisons to animal noises, I have a cat and I keep thinking it’s him talking to me, then I see him sleeping in the other room. I’m fairly sure it’s a design flaw and is common with the model, the meow noise is mostly right after I close the door, so it’s most likely air being vented.

How funny! I've had my Insignia frig - Best Buys - for a year. For the longest time I''ve detected odd sounds which,because I have hearing in only one ear, I cannot locate even when I'm up against my frig. My son returned from abroad and said to me that the frig is making odd whirling, groaning, moaning sounds. News to me. I had the Appliance Doc check it out. Like taking your vehicle that makes all sorts of grunts and squealing sounds to the mechanic and he can't hear or find a thing wrong. But the frig works.

Today my son recorded the groaning etc and I immediately realized that ONE sound I've heard for ages but couldn't locate. When you have hearing in one ear you are sounded by sound but you can't locate it.

Anyway the frig works and I hear ONE of several groans and grunts and whirls that it makes. I'm blessed.

I FIGURED IT OUT!!!

Take out the freezer shelves and drawer. Get a screwdriver and remove the back freezer panel (one screw at the bottom). I jiggled the fan motor a little bit and the sound is gone now.

Remember to unplug the unit first and then plug it back in before putting the panel back just to make sure it worked.

It is so quiet now!!!

My gosh I am so happy to see all of these other posts about the strange noises their insignia fridges are making. Ours was making such a strange widely varied collection of sounds I could not believe it. It is in my office so I alone heard it. I'd tell others to rush in when I'd hear them, but by then they would stop. Finally I recorded it and my wife and son said "Oh THAT'S what has been making that noise!". The sounds range from a choking person to a UFO landing, to some baby animal whimpering. This is just nuts! It's almost as if insignia installed a recorder to surviving play back these noises.

We just purchased an 18cu feet Insignia fridge which sounds possessed like other commentator said. Maybe it is haunted with a poor dispossessed Chinese worker who helped manufacture it.

Needless to say we called to have it replace
 15 days is not very long to test a fridge out and if the replacement does the same it's going to be returned getting our money back.

Best buy did honor the return no questions asked but said we had to use the possessed fridge till mid May 6 weeks from now. 

Now the price went down. Must be a lot of dissatisfied people.

Can anyone suggest a better option?

I have the same issue. It's the fan for sure. I pushed on the back of the freezer (from the inside) and it became substantially louder. I bet the fan blades are making contact with the back panel.
