• There is a shared composite (yellow connector) / component (Red / green / blue connectors) with left/right audio inputs on the rear. Your DVD/VHS player will have at least composite output, and maybe even the higher quality component outputs.

• Yes...all you need is an HDMI cable. If it's old school dvd or vhs, then you can get the color plugs and an svideo cable.
