A blinking light on a small sized drive, for a LONG TIME, is not a good sign. The same issue on a large drive could be normal. I usually just leave it on overnight and if it is blinking still in the morning it is most likely going to need a drive recovery company to recover the date. WARNING: They can be VERY COSTLY, is it worth the price?

Most of the time, your only course of action here is to restart manually, which often means pulling the power cable and/or removing the battery.
