If the old drive works, you should be able to access it on the new computer like an external hard drive, where you can access files in a folder structure. There shouldn't be software needed to use the docking station. If the hard drive is truly corrupted and won't boot through the docking station, you might need something else that can clone the drive and salvage what you have. That usually involves software and a connection so the internal hard drive can be accessed by the software.

I had a Dell hard drive that I removed from dell and installed it in another PC and did a format in it but then couldn't use it or even see it (not even through device manager) I need to plug multiple hard drives to my PC so I bought the dicking station and thought I'd try and see if it would work..... And it did and was even able to recover some if the data in it. Will it work for you? I have no idea there are multiple things that can cause this and it may not be that the docking station made it work. If you have the docking station give it a try and see if it'll work if not you don't need the docking station and just a software to try and recover the data. Sorry I can't give you a yes or no answer buy I Hope this helps, lots of luck.
