You should be able to. It may depend on the software you will use to clone your OS

Yes, that is what I use this for on a daily basis. As long as you know what steps to take, and know you need a 2.5 ssd then yes.

You can, but if I understand correctly, there are multiple software programs that can walk you through this without purchasing this device. What you could do with this device is add an additional drive and keep the wonky one simply for the space. If it is not too fried to run as a simple storage drive
