Yes, they will work with 12 gauge wire. Your 20A breaker properly protects your 12 gauge wiring. These AC outlets are designed for devices that consume up to 15 Amps. 20A outlets have a combination 'T' slot so they can accept either 120V 20A or 15A plugs. UL wouldn't approve a 20A device equipped with a 15A plug.
