“The picture on the screen only measures 17 1/2 inches of picture. It has a lot of black screen on each side of pic. Is it supposed to be this way? Or can I change pic size to wide screen? If so, how?”

Near bottom of remote is "Aspect" button. Push this and it will cycle through different picture size settings.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.well I did see a lot of blank space around the edges of the set. I gave the tv as a gift and am not sure how to treat it. I have one at my house and a black space around the borders are not there. I think it depends on the source of the signal because the border view is from the antenna source and full screen is from cable source.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The screen is measured diagonally. The viewable size is adjustable using settings, brightness, colors, and contrast as well. I bought a 22” to replace 5e 19” one that I bought a few years ago, which was a display demo. No complaints so far.
