Depending on your TV service provider, they usually provide a box that outputs either RF or HDMI, both are supported on this TV. You only need a Roku or similar streaming device if you desire to stream content from an internet source such as Netflix, etc. This TV has a 1080p resolution so the picture is very sharp.
