“if I have Dish as my provider when this TV gets hooked up can the remote work with the Dish remote or will I need to have the TV remote and the Dish remote work together? Thanks”

Navigate to "Settings" and press "OK". Navigate to "Display and Sounds" and press "OK". Navigate to "Power On" and press "OK". Change this setting to "Last Input" to have the TV boot directly back to the input it was last on. NOTE: The other available option for this setting is "Home".
