I spoke with the Mfr and this is a set that does not support ANY other remote. So basically if you watch TV via an antenna, to use the remote is ridiculously archaic... I guess the equivalent of "Vietnam TV 1965!". It's a deal breaker so the TV goes back.

If you connect your channel source (cable) via the HDMI connection and put the tv input on HDMI, you can definitely continue to use the source remote to change the channels. My cable remote automatically paired up with this tv but I find that if I use the fire stick to power it on it will go directly to the last input used, but not when I power it on with the cable remote. Set the power on to last input under setting, display by holding the home button down to get to the setting menu.

Go Home > Settings > Live TV > Channel Management > All. Highlight the channel you want to hide and Press the Play /Pause button to Hide the Channel. Another option is to use the Alexa voice command, try to say: "Tune to channel 3.1".
