Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't know if you can use a remote keypad, however this question could probably be answered by the Insignia manufacturer. I think you can only use a TV remote that is programmed to the TV. The below is just for your info: I have Frontier Cable at my house which plays thru 3 different TV's via a cable box connected to each TV. The master Frontier cable box has a DVR for recordings. I was able to program one of my Frontier TV remotes to operate the Insignia TV so that I could watch recordings from my Frontier DVR. The Frontier cable box I use for my Insignia is plugged in to the Insignia HDMI 1 on the back side of the Insignia. Here is how I am able to watch DVR recordings using only the Frontier remote: 1. turn the Insignia on via Frontier remote. 2. select "TV input" on the remote. 3. on screen select HDMI 1. I relabeled HDMI 1 as "Cable" 4. select "DVR" on remote and choose a recording to watch from the Frontier DVR. 5. Of course, I can still use the Frontier remote to turn on the Insignia and then select any of the WiFi apps (Netflix, etc.) on the Insignia using the up/down, left/right buttons on the remote. It seems as though nothing is real easy when connecting electronics.
