The built-in Fire TV experience is free to use. You need an internet connection (wireless home network) to stream content. There are free streaming services like Pluto TV and Tubi TV. Other streaming services require a monthly subscription fee like Netflix and Prime video. Also you can connect your Cable Box at any time. You can add an antenna to watch free over-the-air broadcasts from your local channels.
