The back is open about six inches on the bottom.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The back of the refrigerator is covered approximately 80%. As you suspected, there is an opening across the bottom for the condenser. It is about 6 inches tall. You could possibly cover it with some type of screen or chicken wire, fastening with duct tape. I hope this helps.
