I haven't had that issue. My freezer is separate from the refrigerator area. the frozen stays frozen and the 9ther keeps things cold. the 2 separate areas are key, in my opinion, for not having your freezer leak onto your food below. I had that issue in the past with an other mini fridge. good luck
