Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I think it depends on your use case. Here is my case: I need a HDMI switch for three laptops to share one large monitor. When a laptop is switched in, its display and the monitor are arranged side by side to provide a lot of screen space. So I bought this one AND the Rocketfish switch to try. Now I'm definitely going to keep this one and here is why: On this switch when an input source (a computer in my case) is switched off, it thinks the monitor is gone so all the open windows on the monitor will move back to the computer's builtin display. This is the desired behavior for me, because I want to keep an eye on the other two computers while working on one on the big monitor. As for Rocketfish, when a computer is switched off, it doesn't know it has lost the monitor. So the windows on the monitor don't move back to the computer's built-in display. But, if you are just switching video or game, Rocketfish's behavior is just fine or even preferable. Not a HDMI protocol expert, I don't know which behavior is "legal". Maybe HDMI protocol just didn't define it.
