I can't say for certain, but I would speculate the issue is that your upstairs setup is using 1, or more incompatible hdmi signals. There are more than only 1 type. As a suggestion, make sure your upstairs setup is using hdmi 2.0 cables in all of your connections for that tv setup. Also, you may very well have the proper cables, but simply damaged cables, causing the issue. This particular product can handle the hdmi 2.0 standard. Maybe your upstairs set uses the higher 2.1 standards?
