DO I NEED AN HDMI CABLE FOR THIS? null

Actually you do not need a cable with this particular model. It was my understanding that this is not only a switch, but also an HDMI broadcaster. It's very similar to the over-the-air high-def signal from your local news station only in a much smaller form. Just set it next to your television, turn it on, and you're ready to go! I did notice that placing a piece of aluminum foil under the switch helped the transmission - much like it helps block the signals being broadcast from the Radio Shack across the street.
