“When I turn on the AC after a few minutes it starts to shake and then blows my extension cord. If I switch the cord on it starts up. But if I only run the fan I have no problem. Is this a compressor problem and how to fix.”

The first problem you are likely having is; you really aren't supposed to use these with an extension cord. However, that being said, I use mine at work with an extension but I always make sure to use the shortest cord possible with the heaviest gauge. Try switching from say a 50 foot 16 gauge cord to a 25 foot 12 or 14 gauge cord.
