“Description for this 10,000 BTU Air Conditioner says it cools an161 sq ft room. 10,000 BTU air conditioners are supposed to cool up to 350 sq. ft. but they cost more, is that hte reason for being cheaper, less efficiency and wasting energy?”

I had the same question about his product; I figured that the online listing of the sq. ft. cooling capability was incorrect, given the BTU rating of the unit. It should theoretically cool an area of about 350 sq. ft. However after running it late in the afternoon for a couple of hours each day in mid 80 degree temp. this unit barely cooled down my living area that is approximately 400 sq. ft. in my apartment by a few degrees. I will be returning this unit and will buy the 14,000 BTU Insignia unit that is listed to cool up to a 500 sq. ft. space.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.My apt is 500 sq ft and so far has been keeping it cool. I use a fan to blow air from living room into bedroom. We have only had upper 80's weather so it hasn't been put fully to test of true summer temps. Sorry can't be of more help.
