I'm answering my own question. I found a BB store that had both in the box. The technical specs are the same although it is available in 1080p. I purchased the 720p version. The only differences are the physical dimensions. They are slightly different and the stand is larger/wider in the 312 model providing better stability. I'm satisfied with it so far. For the same price you're better off with the 312's improved stand.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.In-store, all I could tell is where the operating buttons/labels are on the TV. On the 311, they are in the front, right, lower corner. On the 312, they are on the back lower right side. Not sure if there are other differences.
