“Does the remote operate an Insignia DVD player too? I'm looking for a way to add a DVD player to my mom's Insignia TV. Her remote has what appear to be DVD player controls, such as play, FF, rewind. Other brands' remotes will control multiple devices from the same brand, but I don't know if Insignia does. Anyone have actual experience controlling an Insignia DVD player with this TV's remote?”

This remote does not operate a DVD. You will have to get a universal remote for your DVD player. The rewind/play features are for the smart tv use. Netflix, amazon etc.
