This unit's input for power is a/c only, so you wouldn't be able to use 12v dc power to operate it directly. However, you could buy an inverter like the POTEK 750W Power Inverter (amazon) and power it with 12v DC, just make sure the inverter generates adequate amperage for whatever load you plan to attach to it.
