• That depends on what you are trying to do with the tv. If you're trying to watch Netflix or some other streaming service, just connect your tv to your wifi with the tv remote. If you are trying to watch movies on your blu-ray player, or connect something like an XBox game system, you will need an HDMI cable to connect them.

• We simply plugged it into the wall and it asked for our wifi and password. After that you needed to use your amazon account. No HDMI needed, though we didn't plug it into anything else.
