“I have similar older model insignia "dumb" tv. Same remote. Which doesn't seem to work as good as it used to. Is there a distance limitation? Is remote just worn out? Sometimes feel like I need to hit buttons with hammer.”

I've owned my Insignia TV for only a short time. You have changed the batteries -yes? One thing I have noticed that may change through time is what you have sitting on the table in front of the TV. Any little thing on the table, like my keys or wallet, seems to interfere with the response. The infrared sensor is on the bottom edge If the area on the table top, under the sensor and for a foot on either side is clear then the remote works fine. I've only tried it from about ten feet away.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Try taking the remote apart and cleaning the board inside and also the back of the pads where the buttons are they'll be little circular pieces that come in contact with the board. You can use just a little bit of alcohol and a microfiber cloth.
