“When the water first starts coming into the washer, there is a groaning noise for the first few gallons. Could this be the water pressure? It does not seem to do it on the other cycles when filling up though.”

The sensor is trying to determine the level to fill. It doesn't do this on quick wash and this cycle is only 30 minutes, yet still gets clothes clean!
