The door does fit both cardboard and plastic half gallon size milk. However we keep our milk in the main fridge instead of the door because food stored in the door is usually exposed to slightly warmer temps than food stored on the shelves. Better air flow on shelves, milk stored in door cannot get the air flow to the side of it against the door.
