No, it does not work within the apps. It only works the television functions. I use the YouTube TV, Prime Video, and Netflix apps, but this remote does not function with them. I have been searching for a universal remote that is compatible with the LG smart TV and the apps, but have been unable to find one. This one was the best in terms of working the TV functions (way better than the remote that comes with the TV), but is useless within the apps.
