A:Answer This works very well with a tuner. I put the AV receiver on the STB button and designate it as the volume control for all functions. My setup is Samsung TV, Sony Blue Ray on the DVD button, AV receiver on STB, and Roku on the stream button. Initially I had Pioneer VSX 90's as receivers in the bedroom and living room and bedroom. I am switching both to Sony STR DN 1080 units. The bedroom is switched I hope to finish this weekend.
I put the HDMI from the Roku and and BD through the receiver and use it to switch the signals to the TV.
The remote controls all of the basic function on all of the devices including browsing on the Roky, go and pause on Roku and Blue Ray, and source select on the receiver. I keep the other remotes fairly handy, but we use the Insignia most of the time because it has the volume and mute.
By the way, the Sony Blue Ray is also a great streaming device and the STR 1080 does a much better job than the Pioneer in passing through the signals from the other devices.
