“Buying a TV for our 86 year old mother who is technology adverse. Can this be set up to default to being a TV rather than having to choose the option from a menu? The remote uses Bluetooth. Can the tv be used with a simplified universal remote? Thanks!”

We recommend using the included remote to fully control the TV. Try the Power On feature, when enabled, your TV turns on displaying the last used input: go to Settings > Display & Sounds > Power Controls and select Last Input.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Well, when you hit the power button it automatically opens to a Home Page. I don't think someone who is tech-adverse would be able to figure this out. You have to select an app, e.g. Prime Video, Roku, etc. or click on the button that is located left of the Home Key and it is just designated as an arrow in a box to select an HDMI input, e.g. your cable line. I've attached a photo of my Home Page and I put a yellow arrow pointing to the box you would have to select to choose the input you wish. I doubt that your mom would understand a Smart TV.
