“When you choose live tv will you be using the remote that comes with tv or the remote that goes to your cable box ? I have dvr with cable remote I still want to be able to record my shows”

Use the Cable Box remote to control the Cable Box and use the TV remote to control the TV.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I needed help from Dish tech support to set my remote up. Even then, I was not able to control the volume or mute on my particular Insignia TV. I can do everything else, though. I'm disappointed that I have to use two remote controls.
