Cable would work as a separate input. So say you use your cable remote to turn it on it should turn on to the cables input automatically.

Please try again later.If you have cable connected to your Insignia TV, you should be able to access it without needing to use an app. When you turn on the TV, the cable channels should be already showing. There is an option to set the Insignia TV to be on "Basic Mode" that works the same as a non-smart TV.
