I would advise you that the "easiest" way to accomplish what you want to do is to click onto the MENU button of the TV''s remote control and then slide on over to the HELP column and then scroll down to "RESET TO DEFAULT" and then click the OK button and complete the process. If you choose to do this, it would be as if you just purchased this TV. During set up,. there is an opportunity to leave the factory default setting for VOICE GUIDE ENABLE as "no." Please allow that "factory" default setting to remain at that setting--if you don't want to hear voice commands. This would be a very nice feature to have for some I am sure; however, I am "constantly" adjusting the volume or changing channels, etc. Being that you reset your TV to factory default, you now have to conduct a re-scan of the channels if you are using an HDTV over-the-air antenna and, perhaps, for other reasons. Although you did not ask shelby, I would, personally, take this opportunity to select the WIDE setting for picture size and leave it there all of the time. I find that this WIDE setting gives the most consistent viewing experience--in terms of programs filling the TV screen most often and not appearing that distorted. I found it best not to play around with the ASPECT RATIO settings as well. Many of the classic (i.e., 480i) TV shows do not always fill the entire screen; however, when you try to expend them, say, by selecting the Cinema setting for picture size they become more blurry and significant parts of the actors' bodies and scenes can be cut off from view. This is not the fault of the TV, but rather, it is the "source" of the broadcast which is to blame. It is important to mention that so very many of the TV shows labeled as 480i can fill the "entire" screen and can look nearly as good as those broadcasts labeled as 720i. You may also want to consider changing things like the bass setting, etc. after you've re-set this TV to factory default settings. I hope that my answer helps you and other Best Buy customers shelby. Also, if you or others have an HDTV over-the-air antenna, it is "recommended" to engage in a channel scan once per month as sometimes additional channels become available and sometimes other channels change "location." Happy TV viewing shelby!
