For some reason the OS built in is not the 4K Fire TV even though it’s in a 4K capable tv. The menus showing just HD. Certain apps that have 4K content to stream may show up in 4K resolution. I was able to get 4K content from Movies Anywhere to work with the onboard OS, but not much else. Sports streamed were always just in HD. I already had a stand alone 4K fire stick and when I use that everything shows in 4K resolution, including the menus. So, without an external device, you get a mixed bag with the onboard OS as far as 4K resolution.
