• If you don't have internet or cable, you could still connect a digital antenna to it to receive old fashioned over the air TV broadcasts. The antennae are relatively inexpensive but reception results will vary depending on local conditions.

• You definitely need wifi for everything and it is much more affordable than cable. This tb had the fire stick built in it and you just have to download the apps for movies.

• With the free subscriptions it gives you, yes. There’s also an app called freevee that gives some free channels.
