• It's set up to automatically collect into the bucket and you'd have to keep an eye on it and dump the water occasionally. We have preferred to hook up a hose and have it drain directly into the sump pump.

• You can just use and empty the bucket. The hose is optional.

• We use a hose. The unit's container has a handle on it, so it is easy to carry and empty.
