“hello, two questions. 1) can the alexa function be disabled? 2) the actual alexa units have been shown to be listening even while not powered on. how can i be sure that the alexa function in this tv is not listening even if i don't engage the mic?”

If you deregister your account, the Alexa feature will not be available. To deregister your Amazon account on the TV, go to Home > Settings > My Account. David M. - Insignia Support
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would say the really only way to disable Alexa is the unplug, But everytime you unplug you would have to set her back up again. On the listening issue. MIne lights up and this is the way we know it's listening. Usually only when we say "Alexa" it will light up. For us if it's listening and not lighting up then we may never know for sure. If you feel uncomfortable with this issue return it of give it to someone who doesn't care. I for one don't do anything illegal or immoral. I also don't have it hooked up in my bedroom. No big deal at all but remember it is internet and it's an electronic so it's your personal choice.
