A:Answer Wow, that is a scary answer from Insignia. An 80 plus Gold psu can pull nearly 1400 watts from the wall with a standard North American outlet (110-120v). Now, are you going to be maxing the psu out? The answer is most likely no. But i can assure you that your psu came 16 or 14 gauge wires inside its power cord.
I'm mind blown that Insignia gave you the go-ahead. Don't risk it. Get a proper rated cord. If you're running a 1200 watt psu I'm guessing you've got expenaive hardware that needs big power. You should never exceed 80% of the max wattage when it comes to electrical wires/outlets.
Get a cord with a 15 amp rating.
