• No, this only transmits from DP to HDMI, not the other way around. I am having this issue as well and will be returning this product.

• This is directional, so it only goes from DP->HDMI, you would need a different cable if you want to go from HDMI->DP

• No. This is a directional and not uni-directional cable. It would be nice if they included that in the specifications. I don't think it was on the box either, but I can't say for certain, but it should as a warning to the consumer.
