I posted this same question yesterday & insignia directed me to call them. I haven't done so as of yet but perhaps you should give them a call before discarding the pieces.

Unfortunately nobody warned me and I spent the better half of my day on the phone with them being transferred from one person to the next. They obviously don't know what these parts are for either but instead of saying that they put me through an irritating cycle of "Sorry, I can't hear you, can you repeat that?" After repeating myself 5-6 times they did nothing more than transfer me to someone else so they can take their turn reciting the I can't hear you script. 6 representatives later and I still don't know what the pieces are for. I'm going to put them in a desk.
