I believe the power indicator should remain illuminated at all times as long as power is supplied to the freezer. Please do it hold me to this, but I am oretty sure my light is always on lol As for the manual, I had one in the box, but here is a link (double check the model number to be certain, but aside from size, they all seem pretty basic and pretty much the same).
