“If one takes out all shelves, what is the inside height of the larger compartment? I need to fit a 36 heigh by 14 wide large beer fermenter in this.”

42" height 16" wide the depth "appears" to be right at 14" and the door will give you no wiggle room. It is a freezer and definitely not the ideal temperature for beer fermentation. Good luck with your brew.
